Your server will be different, unless you happen to be on my server, so check your market board. I have made lots of money from level 74 ALC onward just making and selling lots and lots and lots of Refined Natron, which sells for only a little bit of money per unit, but sells constantly because people are lazy on my server.
My final bit of advice is that making money as a crafter always comes down to learning and playing the market board. If you can avoid buying the mats, you can make more money. The biggest money maker for ALC is Raiding potions, which don't sell for a lot per Potion, but sell extremely consistently. As a WVR, for example, you can make big-ticket items that sell for a lot, but not often, while ALC can spam items that are bought consistently and constantly, for low amounts.
